Is this real turnout gear?
No, and please do not treat it like it is. This is a fleece robe styled after turnout gear. It is not PPE, it is not flame resistant, and it is not certified to any standard. Fleece melts. Never wear it on the fireground, near running apparatus, or anywhere near open flame or heat. It is for the bunk room, the day room and home after the shift.
Why not just wear a station hoodie?
Because a hoodie only gives back the heat you are already making, and at four in the morning in a bay with the door open you are not making much. This one makes its own. Three carbon fibre panels sit in the lining across your upper back and down both sides of your chest, and they are warm in about 30 seconds. It also falls past the knee, so your legs are covered while you are stood waiting.
How do I turn the heat on?
Plug the cable into the socket at the hip, drop a USB power bank into the pocket, then press the button on the small inline controller. Each press steps you up a level, one through five, and the lit dots show where you are.
What are the four liveries?
Tan Turnout is the classic tan with hi-vis yellow and silver striping and a grey quilted lining. Midnight Duty is black with the same hi-vis striping and a red lining. Station Navy is the off-duty look, navy with gold piping and no reflective striping. Engine Red is red with silver and gold striping. Same robe, same heating, four different looks.

Heated, not just another layer
Every other layer in your locker is a guess. A thicker hoodie, a second pair of socks, and you are still sat in a cold bay at four in the morning waiting for the adrenaline to drop and the shivering to start, because a normal robe can only hand back the heat your body already made. Frequently asked questions
How warm does it actually get?
Five levels on the controller. Level one sits a little above body temperature and is where most people leave it for a long night. Level five is closer to a hot water bottle held against your back. Each press of the button steps you up one, and the lit dots show which level you are on.
How long does the battery last?
Up to about 10 hours on level one and around 3 to 4 hours on level five with a 10,000 mAh power bank. The power bank is not included: add ours at checkout, or use any USB power bank you already own. Most people keep a second one charged in their locker.
Is a power bank included?
No. The robe ships with the heating panels, the inline controller, the cable and a storage pouch, but not the power bank, so you are not paying twice if you already own one. Any USB power bank runs it. You can add our 10,000 mAh one to your order at checkout.
Is it flame resistant? Can I wear it at work?
No. This is a fleece robe styled after turnout gear. It is not PPE, it is not flame resistant, and it is not certified to NFPA, EN or any other standard. Fleece melts, and melted synthetic against skin is a burn you do not want. Never wear it on the fireground, in a hot zone, near running apparatus, or anywhere near open flame or heat. Wear it in the bunk room, the day room, the kitchen and at home. If you are ever in doubt, take it off and put your gear on.
Will it fit me?
One size, and it falls past the knee on most adults up to around 190 cm. The tie belt closes it as loosely or as snugly as you want. The sleeves are long and open rather than fitted, so it goes on over a t-shirt and shorts without fighting you at 3am.
Can I wash it?
By hand only, never in the machine. Unplug the controller at the hip socket and lift the power bank out first, then hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and hang it to dry. Do not machine wash, do not tumble dry, do not wring the heating panels and do not iron over them.
What if it picks up smoke smell?
Air it out first, which handles most of it. For anything that lingers, spot clean with a little mild detergent and cool water rather than putting the whole robe through a wash. The darker liveries, Midnight Duty and Station Navy, hide marks better if your station is a busy one.
Is it safe to fall asleep in?
The panels run on low voltage from a USB power bank rather than from a wall socket, and the heat switches itself off after a set period. We would still treat it like any heated item and stay on the lower levels overnight. It is not a substitute for being ready to move.
Is the crest a real department badge?
No. The crest is a generic Maltese cross of our own design with a blank banner. It is not any department's insignia, we are not affiliated with any fire service, and nothing on the robe carries a department name, number or rank. If you want your own crest on it, message us before ordering rather than after.
What is it actually made of?
A 280 gsm fleece outer with a contrast lining through the hood and down the front. The heating panels sit between the two layers, so you feel warmth and not wiring. Fleece is a synthetic, which is exactly why the flame warning above matters.
How does the guarantee work?
You get 30 days. If it does not keep you warm, message us and we refund you. You do not have to post a robe you have already worn back to us before the refund starts.
